Elsa Sevilla - Healing Coloniality Through Your Story & Culture

Elsa is a Latina author, storyteller, and community advocate whose work centers on healing, identity, and empowerment. She is the author of Camera Ready: From Hardship to the Spotlight, a deeply personal memoir that explores resilience, generational healing, and the journey toward self-discovery.

Her life story is shaped by early childhood experiences, including her father’s accident and the trauma of separation, which ultimately led her to reconnect with her cultural heritage and embrace her voice through storytelling and community engagement. Through her healing journey, Elsa has come to understand the impact of systemic and generational wounds that many Latinas carry silently.

As part of her connection to MANA de San Diego, Elsa continues to support spaces that uplift Latina leadership, cultural identity, and personal growth. Her work reflects a commitment to breaking cycles of silence and creating pathways for healing through storytelling and shared experience.

Elsa’s story is a powerful reminder that when we confront our past with honesty and courage, we create space for self-love, leadership, and transformation.
